We first met Chloe when she moved to San Luis Obispo. She was in the third grade. Jon and Laurabeth knew that Chloe loved Jesus. So, they wanted me, an elder in the church, to interview her for her first communion. Ben Riddering and I had the priviledge of hearing Chloe's joyously sincere profession of faith. It was really important to her to answer the questions with emotional conviction. It made a deep impression on me.
Our family, in so many ways, has been blessed by Chloe and her family. As the Medlock kids grew up, we had a number of seasons when the older Medlock kids stayed with us inbetween jobs or living situations. We reflect back on a sweet time with Chloe when she crashed at our house for about a month or so. There were a few late night talks, ranging from relationships, music, her family...and then...Chloe would ask us about our lives, inviting us into her world.
She, like her siblings, had a genuine interest in other people, even when they are 40 years older.
The last few summers, we vacationed in north Georgia. Thankfully, this past summer, Chloe was able to join her family for a refreshing day at Lake Burton with us and our family. We swam, barbequed, and relaxed like it was our job. Such a sweet time. We love you, Medlocks. We love you, Chloe.
The time when Chloe dried her clothes on the line.
